In the recent rebuilding of Bembridge’s lifeboat station, parts of the building that dated back to the original nineteenth century boathouse had to be kept. These older sections were carefully protected and preserved whilst the new building was gradually erected all around them. The new station, designed to accommodate the Tamar-class all-weather lifeboat, was operational by October 2010
